Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  How much will this cost?

A.  Prices can be found at www.z-drive.co.uk/prices

Q.  How many lessons will I need?

A.  This can vary massively depending on experience and access to private practice, but you can roughly expect 30-40 hours.

Q. How long are lessons?

A. I offer 1 hour, 1 and a half hour, and 2 hour lessons.  I do offer longer appointments on an ad-hoc basis, but this is by arrangement only.

Q. How do I pay?

A. All fees are paid by bank transfer.

Q. What car will I be learning in?

A.  I teach in a manual Mazda CX-3 Sport-Nav.  It's the nicest car I have owned, and it's full of tech and gadgets to make the learning experience easier, safer, more enjoyable, and better value for money.

Q. I have my own car.  Can you teach me in that?

A. The short answer is yes.  Providing that your car is road legal, has L plates and an interior mirror, then we can use it.  Obviously I would have limited ability to physically control the car, so you would have to be comfortable with the added risk and responsibility.

Q. Do you teach automatic?

A. I do not have an automatic car, so this is not a service I provide.  However if you have your own automatic car and would like me to teach you in that is an option.

Q.  How do I get my full driving licence?

A.  There are three steps.  The first is to apply for your provisional driving licence.  Second is to pass your theory test.  Third is to pass the practical test within two years of passing the theory.

Q.  What areas do you cover?

A.  This can vary depending on where my current client base is.  I work out of Marple Bridge and usually only cover addresses within a 20 minute drive, though this isn't set in stone.  If you drop me a message, I can confirm.
